How to shop safely at the grocery store during the Coronavirus pandemic

Can we shop safely during the Coronavirus pandemic? No matter how much confinement we make, sooner or later we will have to go out and make essential purchases outside of the home. How to make the visit to the supermarket as aseptic and safely as possible? In COVID-19 times, it is important to change our habits, when we are going to make essential purchases outside of the home.

Here are some tips for shopping safely at the grocery store:

• If possible, go shopping by yourself.

• Go shopping for essentials once a week, or every two weeks, if you can.

• Plan your shopping trip smart with the help of a list to avoid unnecessary trips and make it in the minimum time necessary.

• Sanitize your hands before, during and after your shopping trip. Sanitize your hands after touching meat and eggs. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Wear a face mask if possible, when going out for you essentials.

• Always practice social distancing.

• Reduce the frequency of travel by making larger purchases, but without hoarding products beyond real needs.

• Make the purchase payment preferably with credit cards or mobile.

• Go to the establishments in time bands and distributed days, to avoid concentrations. Better yet, go grocery shopping when it works best for your schedule.

• Try to make collective orders and so that the same person can make the purchase of several families.

• Clean the handles of the shopping cart. If possible, bring your own shopping basket.

• If using cloth bags for bagging your groceries, have a separate bag for produce, dry goods and meat items. wash them immediately. Have a separate bag for produce, dry goods and meat items.

• Choose the products without touching them. Touch only what you know you are sure to take.

• Wash your hands immediately as soon as you get home from your shopping trip.

• Try not go to the supermarket if you have any respiratory symptoms, whatever the type, even if you are not sure if it is Coronavirus or a simple cold.
